North China Institute of Science and Technology (NCIST) is the only one public university affiliated to the State Administration of Work Safety (the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety), NCIST used to be the branch school of Beijing Coal Management Institute at Yanjiao (BSBCMI) and was founded in 1984.
2006 is an important year in our ten five-year plan to build NCIST into
a modern comprehensive university with the characteristic of Safety Technology
. We should make great efforts to improve our creative capabilities and dedicate ourselves to the cultivation of talented people who have innovative spirit, as this will make NCIST a place for both national and international cultural and scientific exchange, and will benefit national development of safety technology.

History
Founded in 1984, NCIST was originally named as Branch School of Beijing Coal Management Institute at Yanjiao (BSBCMI). In 1993,BSBCMI was transformed into North China Mining College (NCMC) with the approval of former State Education Commission. In 1997, former State Education Commission confirmed NCMC as one of the key institutions of higher education. It was in early 2002, with the approval of its upgrading from the Ministry of Education, that the Institute came to adopt its present name - North China Institute of Science and Technology.
