The METC was established in August 2003,when its predecessor, the Information Center, was merged with the institute's Electronic Education Center and Electronic arithmetic Center.At present METC has 15 teachers among which 2 are associate professor, 4 entitled medium class.The main tasks of the center are to programm and implemente the institute's information project,which including: constructing and managing the campus network,developing,applying and popularizing the net courses and CAI,researching the theory of Education Technology.The center is also responsible for the education technique training of whole institute's teachers,producing the TV news and special topic and the related affair of the Coal College ad hoc committee of China Educational Technology Association.
Since its establishment, the Center has accomplished a series of important projects.
Librarys
The library of North China Institute of Science and Technology was set up in 1986, and be used formally in 1988.The library locates the center part of the institute, and adopts open type building mode, including 6551 square meters of building area, the hall, the three-floor stack which could hold 300, 000 books, 8 big and small reading rooms which could hold 730 seats, meeting room and office etc.. The library adopts automated management. It has a circulate of more than 1900 volumes of book everyday currently, and can receive more than 2100 readers a day. It is an open and modern college library.
The library builds up the automation integration management system, multimedia reading system and the Chinese academic periodical net mirror site. The library automation integration management system includes a long range search, interview, catalogue, ancient books, circulate, reading, periodical management, public search and sub-system. It has 22work stations, which cover all business and service work of library. The multimedia reading system includes voice- picture reading system and electronic reading system. The voice - picture reading system can be provided 48 people to read at the same time or read alone; while the electronic reading system can be provided 12 people to read electronics cultural heritage and carries on the cultural heritage index or gets to the Internet to visit. The Chinese academic periodical net CNKI can provide the fulltime service of the cultural heritage record, the summary, and full text index . The readers carry on the above-mentioned operation in any station of campus net to cut, edit and print.
